HOULTON – A Houlton man was arrested last week in connection with a string of business burglaries that occurred nine months ago.
Halston Wiley II, 20, was arrested and charged last Friday by Houlton police with three counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, two counts of theft and three counts of criminal mischief.
Last May, Wiley broke into Weston’s Mobil, Aroostook Milling and the Houlton Farms Dairy Bar and attempted to break into the Taste of China restaurant, Detective Sgt. James Skehan of the Houlton Police Department said Tuesday. All of the businesses are located in about the same area on Military Street.
Wiley made his initial court appearance Tuesday in 2nd District Court in Presque Isle. He entered no plea and unsecured bail was set at $3,000, with substance abuse conditions.
He was released into the custody of his mother, Mary Wiley, who was approved by the court as his 24-hour-a-day custodian.
A probable cause hearing has been set for April 29 in 2nd District Court in Houlton.
