A silent auction for 12 stallions sponsored by the Maine Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association is currently underway.

Those wishing to make silent bids on the horses may do so by calling 838-7206, faxing 797-6116 or by email at kdkreddog@aol.com. Bids will be accepted until 4 p.m. on Feb. 14.

Bidding will resume Saturday at 3 p.m. during the business meeting portion of the association’s annual winter meeting and awards banquet at the Italian Heritage Center in Portland.

Bids are on foal’s sired by Basie, Defies Logic, Casino Gambler, Eclipse Blue Chip, Fast Growing, Gorkij Park, Long Fella, Merrilywerollalong, Pine Magic, Radiant Ruler, Tridium and Wilco’s Data.

Awards and dinner will follow at 6 p.m. Dr. Robert Causey and Robyn Cuffey will be the guest speakers.

A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be used to provide a scholarship for a student entering the equine field.
