Vose, Dawan-Abdullah help Monks hand Husson first MAC loss

At Standish, C.J. Vose scored 20 points and Bilal Dawan-Abdullah added 18 more as St. Joseph’s College posted a 65-61 men’s basketball win over Husson and ended the Braves’ quest for a perfect Maine Athletic Conference regular season on Wednesday.

Brandon Stewart added 15 points, including two free throws that snapped a 61-61 tie with 1:38 to play.

Randy Fletcher scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Robert Pilsbury added 16 points for the Braves, who drop to 11-1 in the MAC.

Gary Dussard scored 15 for UM-Machias. Omari Gomes and Albert Whittaker each added 10 points, and Whittaker had eight assists.

Mike Dobbelsteyn led the University of New Brunswick-Saint John with 28 points. Sean Breen had 23 points.

At Machias, the UMaine-Machias Clippers used a balanced scoring attack to defeat the University of New Brunswick-Saint John.

Sara Ricker scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to pace the winners. Larar Nuite added 12 points and Kelly Welles put in 10. Gill Guest had eight points and 12 rebounds.

Jacqueline Kennedy led UNB with 17 points.

Tara Gagnon added 14 points for the winners and Abbie Rice put in 11. St. Joseph’s outrebounded Husson 48-31 with Rice grabbing nine.

Leslie Trott paced Husson with 20 points, Liz Boone added 17 and Kelly Dow netted 11.
