Gatorade Players of the Year named

CHICAGO – Gatorade has awarded the state high school girls’ soccer Player of the Year to Scarborough High School’s Maureen McHugh, and the State boys’ soccer Player of the Year to Falmouth High School’s Jeffrey Davis.

A two-time All-State player, McHugh was selected the Portland Press Herald Player of the Year, while maintaining a 91.5 grade point average. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, lacrosse team and the competition cheerleading squad.

Davis has led his school to two Class B State Championships and scored 16 goals and 13 assists. He maintains a 94.4 grade point average and is a member of the National Honor Society, Natural Helpers, is president of the student council and serves as a peer tutor.

Gatorade honors two winners from each state and the District of Columbia. Each are entered into the Gatorade Circle of Champions and are finalists for the Gatorade National High School Boys’ and Girls’ Soccer Player of the year awards.
