WATERVILLE – Andrew Clavette poured in 22 points to lead the University of Maine-Fort Kent Bengals to a 92-80 men’s basketball victory over the Thomas College Terriers Sunday.

Morris Young and Stafford Bente added 12 and 11, respectively, for UMFK.

For the Terriers, Jimmy Cardaci racked up 29 points and 10 rebounds. Will Nickerson tallied 17 points and nine rebounds while John Kesel scored 15 and Shelby Turcotte had 10.

At Standish Saturday, Bilal Dawan-Abdullah nailed a pair of free throws with 24 seconds left to help the Monks hold on.

The Clippers’ Wayne Clark tied the game at 67 with two free throws with 1:49 remaining, but Jon Pratt answered with a layup to put Saint Joseph’s ahead for good.

Brandon Stewart paced the Monks with 21 points, C.J. Vose scored 16 and Dawan-Abdullah finished with 13. Steve Monteiro hauled down 11 rebounds.

Courtney Campbell sparked the Clippers with 17 points while Clarke contributed 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Rybalko AE Outstanding Performer

Viktoriya Rybalko of the University of Maine was selected as the Women’s Most Outstanding Performer during Saturday’s America East Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Boston University.

Rybalko, a junior from Zaporzhye, Ukraine, took first place in the long jump and the triple jump to help the Black Bears finish in fifth place.
