BREWER – Robbie Hayes garnered two goals and two assists to lead the Brewer Witches to an 8-0 high school hockey victory over the Brunswick Dragons at T.J. Ryan Arena Saturday.

Brewer’s Spencer Dunbar stopped 12 of 12 shots for his second consecutive shutout. The Witches improved to 11-8.

Josh Caldwell aided the offense with two goals and an assist, A.J. Hayes had a goal and an assist, and Jamison Cocklin, Wally Tardiff and Will Prescott each scored a goal. Jeremiah Richter, Matt Grimes and Josh Kochis logged two assists apiece and Roman Vyskocil dished out an assist.

Orono 6, Winthrop/Hall-Dale 3

At Kents Hill, Brano Srnka scored three goals to propel the Red Riots to victory.

Mark Caggiano, Pat Skall and Mike Merritt tallied one goal apiece for 19-1 Orono, while Nick Dwyer, Paul Pangburn and Will Toner provided assists. Casey Hale made 14 saves on 17 shots.

Ben Jondreau scored twice for Winthrop/Hall-Dale and Lee St. Hilaire had the other. Doug Blanchette made 30 saves on 36 shots.

Messalonskee 5, John Bapst 4

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Brayden Shieze fired in a goal at the 13:11 mark of the third period to lift Messalonskee of Oakland over John Bapst of Bangor. Richie Mason and Justin Caron assisted Shieze’s score.

Mason finished with two goals and an assist, Shieze had two goals and Nick Perry notched a goal. Caron contributed two assists while Anthony Kidner, Shawn Lawlor and Bert Marston dished out an assist each. Eagle goalie Ben Conte made 31 saves on 35 shots.

Zach Means paced the 14-6 Crusaders with two goals and an assist and John Motta netted two goals. Kyle Maynard added two assists and Colby Therriault was credited with an assist. Jamie Hardy stopped 28 of 33 shots.

Girls basketball

Old Town 43, Presque Isle 41

At Presque Isle, Kasey Spencer nailed a pair of free throws with a minute remaining to lift Old Town over Presque Isle.

Spencer finished with 18 points and Mallory Brown tallied 14.

Autumn Tuttle led the Wildcats with 16 points and eight rebounds.

At Presque Isle, Fred Bird tossed in eight of his 13 points in the fourth quarter as Presque Isle held off Old Town.

Nick Casavant paced the Wildcat offense with 22 points while Ryan Graves and Dennis Saucier chipped in with 12 and 11, respectively. Bird grabbed 10 rebounds.

Shawn Kenniston led the Indians with 17 points, including five 3-pointers. Dan Emerson recorded 12 points.

At the Augusta Civic Center, top-ranked Elan of Poland rallied from a one-point deficit at halftime en route to a Western Maine Class D quarterfinal win over Forest Hills of Jackman.

Zach Kinzer tossed in 18 of his 24 points in the second half to key the surge.

Marvin Reels added 24 points, Azzard Molaei had 12 and Noah Levinson chipped in with 10 for the winners.

For Forest Hills, Jason Nadeau poured in 23 points.
