BANGOR – Bangor International Airport announced this week that passenger traffic at the airport has increased 8.1 percent over January 2001. This is the second January in a row passenger traffic has increased over the previous year.

Airline seat capacity also has increased 7.1 percent over January 2001, along with seat type. Jet flying now comprises 67 percent of the seats flown in the market, up significantly from 36 percent last January.

Bangor Mayor Michael Crowley noted that BIA’s growth is good news for the region.

“Using your own airport is the best way to help grow air service locally, which ultimately means lower prices,” Crowley said.
