MACHIAS – Megan Amero poured in a game-high 21 points to lead the University of Maine-Presque Isle to a 69-64 Maine Athletic Conference quarterfinal upset of the UM-Machias Clippers.

The Owls led by as many as 13 in the second half, but withstood a last-gasp effort by UM-Machias.

Erica McGary pumped in 17 for the Owls. Rachel Larlee tossed in 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Heather Noonan notched 11 points.

Kelly Welles and Larae Nuite each connected for 14 for the Clippers.

Jocelyn Sawyer pumped in 17 points and hauled down nine rebounds for the winners. Rachel Bard contributed 10 points, including a 6-for-6 effort from the foul line.

Meghan Hughes sparked the Braves of Bangor with 15 points. Kelly Dow added 14 and Liz Boone tossed in 13 and grabbed seven rebounds.
