LINCOLN – Lincoln police are investigating an incident in which two masked men carrying what appeared to be a handgun entered a home late Tuesday afternoon.

Police Chief Richard Mayo said no one was hurt and nothing was taken from the residence as a result of the incident, which was reported to police at 4:30 p.m. by Leola Donaghy.

Mayo said Donaghy reported that two men wearing ski masks, one carrying what appeared to be a handgun and the other carrying a baseball bat, had walked into her Edwards Street home. He said preliminary information indicated there was no forced entry, but the door was unlocked.

“They pushed this woman’s [teen-age] son and asked where his mother was,” said the chief. He said that when Donaghy, who was in another room, made her presence known, the two men ran from the house.

The chief is cautioning people to be more aware of the identity of anyone at the door before allowing entry.

Mayo said it is important that people be aware of what is going on in their neighborhoods and report any suspicious activity to police. “Even though this is Lincoln, Maine, this type of thing does go on, unfortunately,” he said.
