Awards

Chief Warrant Officer 2 John A. Robinson has received the Meritorious Service Medal from the U.S. Army.

Robinson, a 1984 graduate of Bangor High School and 1988 graduate of the University of Maine, has a master’s degree from Troy State University in Alabama.

He is a division targeting officer with Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 25th Division Artillery, Schofield Barracks, on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

Robinson is the son of Robert D. Robinson of Portland and the nephew of James Pike of Bangor.

BANGOR – The Naval Reserve Center has named two people as both Sailor of the Quarter for the last quarter of calendar year 2001, and Sailor of the Year for 2001:

. Yeoman 1st Class Sandra Blogette, a full-time staff member.

. Construction Electrician 2nd Class Marc Averill, a drilling reservist.

The awards are based on leadership and dedication to duty, and reflect the core values of the Naval Service. Blogette and Averill were awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Promotions

FORT LEWIS, Wash. – Jason E. Pelletier, the son of Jerry and Kathy Pelletier of Orrington, has been promoted to the rank of captain in the U.S. Army.

Pelletier is a graduate of Caribou High School and of Plymouth State College in New Hampshire. He is an ROTC graduate from the University of New Hampshire, and is stationed with Army Ranger 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger BGE, Fort Lewis, Wash.

Advanced Training

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Spec. James A. Sebastiano has graduated from the U.S. Army Primary Leadership Development Course.

The five-week course trains soldiers in basic leadership, communications and counseling skills, supply and maintenance, and military professional skills.

Sebastiano is a power generation repairer with Bravo Company, 172nd Signal Battalion, Fort Wainwright, Fairbanks. He is the son of Stephine Sebastiano of Hampden and Carmen Sebastiano of Sebring, Fla.

Basic Training

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Airman Trevor E. Killip has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base.

A 2001 graduate of Brewer High School, he is the son of Susan Killip of Orrington.
