Robert E. Baldacci Jr. of Bangor, a real estate developer and economic development specialist, is moving to Portland to join Pierce Atwood Consulting, a public affairs and economic development consulting group. Baldacci will lead the firm’s economic development activities. The brother of 2nd District U.S. Rep. John Baldacci has been president of his own real estate development, management and consulting firm, Baldacci Associates, since 1982. Based in Bangor, the firm has developed or acquired more than $25 million worth of housing and commercial real estate, primarily in Maine. In addition, Baldacci has provided economic planning and community development assistance to financial institutions, municipalities and private businesses throughout Maine. In a related move, Baldacci and the firm’s current executive vice president, Ted O’Meara, have been named managing directors of Pierce Atwood Consulting. Baldacci will direct economic development and new business opportunities, and O’Meara, who joined the firm last July, will continue to direct public relations activities and firm operations. Both will actively participate in the governmental relations group, a joint effort of the law firm and the consulting group. They also will serve on the Pierce Atwood Consulting board of directors.

SIGNET Communications Group, based in Bangor, has hired three new account managers:

Eddie Hannan will represent SIGNET to business customers in the Bangor region and offer them Verizon products and services including Centrex, Frame Relay, T1 Service, BRI-PRI-ISDN, and business lines. Hannan also will offer other products and services, such as dedicated high-speed Internet access using the fiber-optic infrastructure of Oxford Networks, and data networking products from Adtran and Cisco.

Jay Peavey will offer customers in the Bangor region Mitel Platinum and Comdial Platinum business communications systems, including phone systems, voice mail, unified messaging, message on hold, and wireless extensions off these phone systems. Peavey also will present data networking products from Cisco and Adtran.

Gary Gearheart will provide the same products and services as Peavey, but to business customers in the Augusta area.
