BANGOR – Wes Day scored 22 points, including an 8-for-8 effort from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, to lead the John Bapst boys basketball team to a 78-68 victory over Old Town Friday in a Class A Northeastern division prelim game played at Bangor High’s Red Barry Gym.
Zev Myerowitz led the No. 7 Crusaders of Bangor with 25 points. Bryan Snyder added 16 and Ben Baldus scored 11.
Brian Tewhey put in a team-high 19 points for the No. 10 Indians. Shawn Kenniston added 14 and Jeremy Stormann scored 13.

At Hampden, Ryan Lockard poured in 26 points to power the No. 9 Panthers to the upset over the No. 8 Broncos.
Dave Veilleux scored 13 points, Matt Dwyer added 12 and Cody DeGuzman scored 11.

At the T.J. Ryan Center in Brewer, Mike Brook’s hat trick proved to be the difference as the No. 3 Broncos ousted the No. 6 Eagles in a Southeastern Class B divisional quarterfinal.
Peter Macone added two goals for 11-8 Hampden. Chris Standley and Kevin Brooks each contributed two assists. Chris Bearor also had an assist. Garrett MacGowen made four saves on six shots.
Justin Caron and Luke McPartlin each scored for the Eagles of Oakland. Ricky Powers, Jake Burwood and Brayden Shieve each had an assist for 3-17-1 Messalonskee of Oakland. Ben Conti made 31 saves on 36 shots.

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, the Rams ended a four-game losing streak as they defeated the Bulldogs in a Class A Northeastern divisional quarterfinal.
After two scoreless periods No. 4 Bangor burst forth with goals from John Huhn, Pat Frazier, and Corey Mayhew in the third. Mayhew, Josh Land, and Ben Payson each had an assist, while Kyle Baker contributed two assists. Dominic Dinardo stopped 17 shots for his third shutout of the season for 6-12-1 Bangor.
Jacob Mitchell stopped 24 shots for No. 5 Lawrence of Fairfield (4-14-1)
