ROCKPORT – The Holocaust Human Rights Center of Maine is accepting nominations for the Outstanding Student of the Year Award.

The award recognizes a student who has written an effective nonfiction essay or literary work or who has created an unusually expressive piece of visual or performance art relating to the Holocaust or issues of human rights.

Awards will be given in the art and writing categories for three groups: kindergarten through fourth grade, fifth through eighth grades, and ninth through 12th grades.

All entries must be received by May 10. Late entries will not be accepted. Award recipients will be notified by May 20. Prizes will be awarded June 2 at the rights center’s annual meeting.
