AUGUSTA – A new performer or performers opening the day’s session has become part of the State House schedule.

The North Country Strings, a group from eastern Maine, will do the honors today. The day begins with a concert in the rotunda area at 8:30 a.m., to be followed by a rendition of the national anthem before the Legislature convenes at 9:30 a.m.

The North Country Strings is composed of eight 10- to 12-year-old female violinists from Penobscot, Waldo and Piscataquis counties.
