Acadia Hospital’s Hill named to national group

BANGOR – The appointment of Acadia Hospital’s chief executive officer to the national advisory board of ADVANCE for Nurses was noted in the February issue of Psychology Today.

Dorothy Hill, a registered nurse with more than 30 years’ experience in psychiatric nursing, is also chief nursing officer for Acadia in Bangor.

The magazine article pointed out that Hill has been president of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.

Before becoming an administrator, Hill worked in a variety of hospital settings, including private, veterans and state hospitals.

In the past decade, she has been instrumental in opening Acadia, a free-standing psychiatric facility.

Acadia Hospital, Psychology Today noted, recently applied for magnet status, the first free-standing not-for-profit psychiatric hospital to do so in the country.

Hill also has been president of the Organization of Maine Nurse Executives and the nurse executive representative to the Maine Hospital Association.
