The Camden Hills senior center-forward helped lead the Windjammers to their second straight Class B state basketball title by grabbing 13 of his game-high 17 rebounds in the second half and scoring 10 points overall in a comeback win over Gorham.
Small School (Classes C-D)
Pat McCleary
The senior center for Bangor Christian’s boys basketball team led the Patriots to their first Eastern Maine Class D title in 23 years and turned in a 25-point, seven-rebound effort in Saturday’s state championship game as BC lost to Valley by one point.
Girls
Big School (Classes A-B)
Jauna Andrews
Andrews, a 6-foot-1 Cony senior for-ward center, led the Rams with 22 points, 13 rebounds, three blocks, two assists and a steal in their Eastern Maine Class A quarterfinal win against Bangor Saturday.
Small School (Classes C-D)
Julia Knights
Knights, a 5-10 Woodland senior forward, racked up 13 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and six blocks in the Dragons’ Class D state championship win over Rangeley and was one of four Woodland players named to the Downeast Athletic Conference all-star team.
