Hildebrand 11th at NCAA ski meet

At Girdwood, Alaska, Bates College senior Kyle Hildebrand finished 11th of 35 skiers in the giant slalom at the NCAA National Collegiate Skiing Championships on Wednesday.

Hildebrand, of Waitsfield, Vt., was in ninth place after the first run, but could not hold onto his top 10 slot, which would have earned him his fourth career All-American honor.

Hildebrand scored 29 points for the Bobcats, who stand in 14th place among 22 teams after the men’s and women’s giant slalom.

Bates teammates Justin Easter of Jay, Maine, and Haley Johnson of Lake Placid, N.Y., will compete in Thursday’s men’s 10K and women’s 5K classical cross country races, respectively.
