Former local high school racewalking standouts Anne Favolise from Narraguagus in Harrington and Ben Shorey of Ellsworth notched top-five finishes at the USATF National Open Indoor Championships in New York Saturday.
Shorey, a University of Wisconsin-Parkside freshman, placed fourth in the men’s 5,000-meter racewalk with a time of 21 minutes, 26.65 seconds. Favolise, a fellow UWP freshman, was fifth in the women’s 3,000 with a time of 14:00.89. Another Mainer and UWP freshman, Amanda Bergeron of Poland, finished fourth in the women’s race.
