PORTLAND – Ian Robinson of Brewer won a USTA New England tennis tournament at the Racket and Fitness Center Saturday and Sunday.
The 16-year-old No. 2 seed beat top seed Eric Conrad of Gloucester, Mass., 6-4, 6-1. The victory improved Robinson’s record in the division to 8-3 and avenged an earlier loss to Conrad in a tournament in January.
Robinson is a high school state singles champion as he captured the title last spring. He became the first player from Brewer High and the first from Eastern Maine to win the title since Ryan Kelley in 1997.
Robinson is a junior at Brewer High School.
