LEWISTON – The seven Democratic candidates for Maine’s 2nd District congressional seat will square off in a debate at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, in the Muskie Archives at Bates College.

The event, sponsored by the Bates Democrats working with the Androscoggin County Democratic Committee, is free and open to the public.

Seven Democrats and four Republicans are vying for the seat to be vacated by Democratic Rep. John Baldacci of Bangor, who is running for the Blaine House.

State Sen. Margaret Rotundo, D-Lewiston, will moderate the program.

All moderate to progressive Democrats, the seven participants who have agreed to participate in the debate are David Costello of Lewiston, Sean Faircloth of Bangor, Lori Handrahan of New Sharon and Sorrento, Susan Longley of Unity, Michael H. Michaud of East Millinocket, John Nutting of Leeds and Kaileigh Tara of Lewiston.
