AUGUSTA – The 23 teachers nominated for the 2003 Maine Teacher of the Year were honored last week during a ceremony in the State House Hall of Flags
After a selection process, including school visits, professional portfolio reviews, oral presentations and final interviews, the 2003 Maine Teacher of the Year will be announced in September.
The nominees are: Barbara E. Burgess, sixth grade, science-language arts, Biddeford Middle School; Linda T. Caron, grades nine through 12, French-English (Holocaust), Ashland Community High School; John R. Corrigan, grades 10 through 12, English, Maine School of Science and Mathematics, Limestone.
Sheryl A. David, sixth grade, Carl J. Lamb Elementary School, Springvale; James Freyenhagen, sixth grade, Prescott Memorial School, Washington; Peter Gillingham, seventh grade, social studies, Lake Region Middle School, Naples.
Richard D. Glueck, sixth grade, science-social studies, Orono Middle School; Lauree E. Gott, grades six through eight, science-math, Veazie Community School; Walter Loring Hayes, grades nine through 12, math, Westbrook High School.
