Online registration is now available for runners who wish to enter the fifth People’s Beach to Beacon 10K road race on Aug. 3 in Cape Elizabeth.

The field will be increased from 4,000 to 5,000 runners this year, in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the popular Maine coast race. The scenic course will be the same as last year, starting at Crescent Beach on Route 77 and ending at Portland Head Lighthouse at Fort Williams Park. The event also features a wheelchair race and children’s 1K.

The race was founded by Maine resident and two-time Boston Marathon champion Joan Benoit Samuelson. In 1984, she also captured the gold medal in the first women’s Olympic marathon.

Registration is available at www.beach2beacon.org. For more information, call the race hotline at 888-480-6940.
