HOULTON – A national panel of experts will discuss what research has found about commonly abused medications and their health consequences in “Prescription Drugs: Misuse, Abuse and Addiction Update.”

The workshop will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at the Center for Community Health Education at Houlton Regional Hospital, with experts connected by satellite.

The public is invited to attend and participate as the panel talks about trends and patterns of use, particularly in older adults, adolescents and women; identify strategies to assess the scope and nature of the problem in the community; and discover ways to mobilize local resources to prevent continued abuse.
