FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Minnesota Twins settled their outfield Wednesday by optioning Michael Cuddyer and Bobby Kielty to Edmonton of the Pacific Coast League, and are likely to make cuts that would send former Bangor High School star Matt Kinney to the minor leagues.

With Cuddyer sent to Triple-A, Brian Buchanan will start in right field. Torii Hunter will play center field and Jacque Jones left field. Dustan Mohr will be the backup.

Minnesota also reassigned pitcher Brian Meadows to their minor-league camp, leaving a staff of 13. Manager Ron Gardenhire wants only 11, meaning Kinney and Mike Duvall probably will be cut.

Duvall hasn’t pitched this spring because of a strained left elbow. Kyle Lohse is all but set as the No. 5 starter, so there’s no room for Kinney unless he takes the spot of LaTroy Hawkins in the bullpen. Kinney gave up four home runs in Wednesday’s 9-8 exhibition win over Texas.
