SANFORD – A member of the local airport committee is under pressure to resign after he produced an unloaded gun at a recent meeting.
E. Armand Talbot was trying to highlight security problems at Sanford’s town hall and regional airport when he pulled out a semiautomatic handgun at a March 12 meeting.
“I’ve been to the airport several times and was able to walk right in and walk onto the tarmac,” said Talbot, a former selectman.
Talbot, who has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, pulled the gun from under his clothes and placed it on the table, according to several witnesses.
Several members of the volunteer committee that oversees the airport said Talbot’s behavior was inappropriate.
One of them plans to ask for Talbot’s resignation at a future meeting.
“It was absolutely out of line,” said committee member C. Scott Hoar. “It’s not what an appointed committee member should have done.”
