Thomas gets split against Lawrence U.

FORT MYERS, Fla., Travis Hotham knocked in four runs with two singles in the second game, helping Thomas College of Waterville earn a split of its season-opening doubleheader against Lawrence University (Wis.).

Lawrence won the opener 10-5, but the Terriers rebounded for a 14-3 victory in the second game.

In Game 2, Thomas knocked out 15 hits, scoring all the runs it would need during a six-run second inning. Ryan O’Connor provided three singles and two RBIs for the winners and Aaron Bonenfant doubled and singled, while Corey Pelletier and Ryan Buttice contributed two singles each.

Shawn Lenihan scattered eight hits, striking out five, to earn the win.

Steve Stievo paced Lawrence with a triple and a single.

In Game 1, the Vikings broke a 3-3 tie with six runs in the sixth inning. Shawn Shanda rapped a triple and two singles for the winners.

Scott Brawn doubled twice for Thomas while Scott Sibley and Travis Hotham belted solo home runs.

At Biddeford, Sarah Huffman knocked an RBI single to give the Bobcats of Lewiston the lead for good in the fifth inning.

Sarah Levine knocked a two-run single for the winners.
