The group Food and Medicine, made up of laid-off workers, is sponsoring a benefit dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Bangor Central Labor Council’s union hall at 20 Ayer St., Brewer.

Food and Medicine was formed to educate the public and politicians about the difficulties unemployed workers have paying the high costs of health care with the low unemployment benefits they receive.

Proceeds from the dinner will be used to support the group’s education efforts.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children. Laid-off workers will not be charged, but donations will be accepted.
