ORLAND – Five area residents have formed the initial advisory group for a new quarterly publication based in the Orland-Bucksport area.

Dave and Virginia Davis, Donna Smith, Barton Hutchins and Heidi Williams met recently with journal editor Sharon Bray to begin work on the project. The Narramissic Notebook project is dedicated to preserving and sharing pictures, stories and poems from neighboring communities.

Area historical societies are invited to share pictures and information, as the journal will dedicate a full page to each participating group, telling readers where to get membership information, when the society meets, when its museum is open and what the group holds in its collection.

Readers are encouraged to lend pictures to the Notebook along with the stories behind the pictures. School pictures and family albums with photos from the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s are as much a part of local history as treasures from the archives of local historical societies and libraries.

Poets and other writers and artists who live in the area year round or part time are invited to submit their work. This first 24-page issue will be experimental. Contents, design, and even regular publication of the Notebook will depend on community participation and interest.

For more information or to become involved in the project, contact the editor at 469-7308 or by e-mail at sharonbray@midmaine.com.
