What’s next for Workers’ Compensation policies in Maine will be discussed at a Husson College business breakfast starting at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, April 11, at Husson’s Dickerman Dining Commons.
Joe Edwards, former Maine superintendent of insurance, and Harvey Picker, a member of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Workers’ Compensation, will be the speakers.
Maine soon could be the only state to allow people who are injured on the job to combine injuries not related to work to determine the level of benefits they can receive, according to a recent decision by the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.
Picker and Edwards will address the state’s policies on Workers’ Compensation before and after the court ruling, and how to strike a balance between providing benefits to seriously injured workers while maintaining manageable costs for businesses.
Reservations are required. The cost is $6. Call 973-1036.
