CARIBOU – An Augusta truck driver who allegedly pushed a woman’s car down U.S. Route 1 pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Aroostook County Superior Court to four charges stemming from the alleged road rage incident.
Douglas Boucher, 26, was indicted last month on charges of reckless conduct, driving to endanger, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and criminal mischief.
Boucher allegedly used his tractor-trailer truck on Jan. 25 to bump into and then to push a car driven by Joan Main of Caribou.
Main’s car was pushed a quarter- to a half-mile south along U.S. Route 1, starting at about Chapman Road in Presque Isle to a point near the southernmost entrance road to the University of Maine at Presque Isle campus, where the car went off the road.
Boucher reportedly did not stop to help Main, who was not seriously hurt, but he allegedly kept on driving.
Represented by attorney Frank Bemis of Presque Isle, Boucher remains free on bail.
Also on Tuesday, two Fort Fairfield men were arraigned on charges of Class A robbery.
Adam DeMerchant, 18, and Timothy Layton, 19, both pleaded not guilty to using a knife to rob Greg Chapman, a taxi driver for Aroostook Cab Co. of Caribou, while he was making a delivery of beer to a location in Fort Fairfield.
The pair allegedly demanded that Chapman turn over any money he had as well as the beer. Chapman was not injured.
Both men are free on bail but have 24-hour custodians.
DeMerchant is being represented by attorney Eugene McLaughlin of Presque Isle. Attorney Christopher Leger of Caribou represents Layton.
