HOULTON – An Oakfield man was arrested late Monday afternoon after he allegedly used a knife to assault two juveniles in Community Park.

Kevin Nelson II, 20, has been charged with two counts of Class B aggravated assault after the knifing incident at about 4 p.m., according to Detective James Skehan of the Houlton Police Department.

Skehan declined to identify the two male juveniles, who he said are both Houlton residents.

Both victims were taken by private vehicle to Houlton Regional Hospital, where one was admitted and underwent surgery for wounds in the facial area.

The other victim was treated for unspecified injuries and released.

Hospital staff notified police about the incident. Nelson subsequently was apprehended and taken to the police station. He was released on personal recognizance bail.

Details were still sketchy, but Skehan said there was a disagreement among the three and Nelson allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed the two youths. He said the incident took place in the back section of the park near the John Millar Civic Center.

Skehan said the incident was still under investigation Tuesday.
