ORONO – A “Gardening Study Course,” Course IV, Series VI, sponsored by the Garden Club Federation of Maine Inc. and accredited by the National Garden Clubs, Inc. will be held April 26-27 at the University of Maine Roger Clapp Greenhouse on Grove Street. Faculty and staff from the University of Maine will lead the course.

Topics to be covered include: outdoor identification of plants, techniques for growing fruit, techniques for growing woody ornamentals, specialized styles of gardening, growing plants under lights, native plants.

Exams will be given for outdoor identification; woody ornamentals and specialized gardening.

The full course and exam cost $42. Refreshing and auditing without exam cost $40, or $20 per day.

Garden club members who successfully complete the series of four courses and exams will be certified as a garden consultant by the National Garden Clubs Inc. Non-members receive a certificate.
