Promotions

HERMON – Edward Sleeper, a graduate of Hermon High School and Husson College, was promoted to captain at a ceremony at the ROTC department of the University of Maine.

Sleeper has returned from a three-year tour of duty in Germany, where he served as an officer in the Transportation Corps. Previously, he served six years in the Marine Corps, including duty on the front lines in Iraq. Next he will begin additional training at Fort Lee, Va.

Advanced training

DOVER, Del. – Air Force Airman Peter M. Lavoie has graduated from the aerospace maintenance apprentice course at Dover Air Force Base, Del.

Lavoie, a 2001 graduate of Hampden Academy, is the son of Debbie Chaput of Hampden.

Basic Training

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Several members of the Air National Guard have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas:

. Airman Erick M. Emery, a 2001 graduate of Hermon High School. He is the son of Mike Emery of Carmel.

. Airman Nicholas T. Rodway, a 1999 graduate of Brewer High School and a 2000 graduate of Eastern Maine Technical College. He is the son of Hope and Charles Rodway III of Brewer.

. Airman John D. Dickinson, a 2001 graduate of Hampden Academy. He is the son of Richard and Jan Dickinson of Winterport.

. Airman Daniel B. Matson, a 1997 graduate of Kents Hill High School. He is the son of Charles and Dorothy Matson of Brewer.

. Airman 1st Class Nathaniel L. Solorzano, a 2000 graduate of Old Orchard Beach High School. He is the son of Shara Barris of Hampden and Kevin Sheedy of Old Orchard Beach.
