LEWISTON – A Lewiston teen-ager was indicted Thursday for the murder of Bates College senior Morgan McDuffee. Brandon Thongsavanh was charged by a grand jury with one count of murder in the March 3 stabbing death of McDuffee.

Thongsavanh, 19, is accused of stabbing McDuffee, captain of the Bates lacrosse team, during an early morning altercation between students and local youths.

Police said they have collected bloody clothes tying Thongsavanh to the stabbing, but a murder weapon has not yet been found.

No trial date has been set, but the trial is expected to begin by this fall or winter. Thongsavanh is being held without bail at Androscoggin County Jail.
