BANGOR – A protest against taxes will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, April l6, at the Margaret Chase Smith Federal Building on Harlow Street in Bangor. Activists will gather to protest proposed tax cuts that they believe benefit the wealthiest and what they view as skewed federal budget priorities. In addition, activists will portray the “Rich People’s Liberation Front” representing multinational corporations and people with annual incomes over $150,000, who will arrive in a limousine to thank taxpayers for supporting them in the style to which have become accustomed.
The Tax Day Rally, one of several being held around the state, is sponsored by the Peace & Justice Center of Eastern Maine, the Maine Citizens Leadership Fund, the Dirigo Alliance, and Maine War Tax Resisters.
