PORTLAND – Ethan Hemphill, 29, led from start to finish Monday to win the 73rd Portland Boys and Girls Club 5-Mile road race in 25 minutes, 50 seconds.

Runner-up Dan Dearing was more than a minute and a half behind, at 27:27. Dermont Killian finished third at 27:46.

Kristin Pierce-Barry, 28, won the women’s division in 29:25. Julia Kirtland was second at 29:44, one second ahead of third-place finisher Marjorie Graff.

About 500 runners took part in the Patriot’s Day event, which was run in overcast weather, with temperatures in the 50s.
