MITC seminar to focus on international trade

The Maine International Trade Center will hold a half-day seminar on the fundamentals of international trade from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at the Auburn Intermodal Facility on 415 Rodman Road, Auburn. The cost of the program is $40 for MITC members and $55 for nonmembers.

Among the key questions to be answered during the seminar titled “Import-Export 101” will be:

. Do you understand the vital terms of an international sales agreement?

. How can you get paid?

. How do you ship your products across borders?

. Where can you obtain financing assistance for your overseas sales?

The event, which will double as an introductory course for newcomers and a review for experienced companies, will feature experts from Citizen’s Bank, the Small Business Administration, Emery Worldwide and the Maine Department of Transportation.

St. Lawrence & Atlantic Railroad Company is sponsoring the seminar. Participants also will have a chance to tour of the intermodal terminal and learn about the facility’s distribution network, warehousing and double-stack container services.
