BANGOR – Husson’s Dave Dostie and Keith Simmons pitched a pair of shutouts Tuesday, taking a college baseball doubleheader from the University of Maine-Presque Isle at the Husson field.
The Braves won 5-0 in the first game and 3-0 in the second.
In the first game, Dostie allowed three hits, struck out 10, and walked only three in improving his record to 4-2 on the year. Simmons rapped a pinch-hit, RBI single for Husson. Josh Ferguson and Deric Prescott had two singles apiece for the Braves.
Josh Dillon had a single for the Owls.
In the second game, Simmons improved to 4-1, winning his fourth consecutive complete game, allowing only two hits, walking none, and striking out eight to spark Husson.
Aaron Brideau rapped two singles and drove in a run for the Braves.

Lyndon sweeps UMF
At Lyndonville, Vt., Lyndon State took a doubleheader from UM-Farmington, 14-4 in the first game and 5-3 in the second.
In the first game, Greg Rose had a double and two singles to power Lyndon State. Ryan Farley also had a double.
James Writer and Keith LeBlanc each ripped a double for UMF.
In the second game, Nick Merrill launched a two-run double to spark Lyndon State.
Ryan Farley and Jason Lovely had a pair of hits for the winners.
John Rutkiewicz tossed a complete game for the Beavers.

At Gorham, Greg Stacy collected a trio of singles and knocked in the winning run in the seventh to give the Huskies a comeback win.
Craig Gureckis started the rally, leading off the sixth with a triple, and scored on a double by Brian Marshall. Adam Lemieux had a sacrifice fly to pull the Huskies to within one.
Tyler Delorme led off a four-run seventh with a double, Gureckis followed with a single, Marshall walked, and Stacy knocked in the game-winners. Lemieux and Peter L’Italien followed with sacrifice flies.
Eric Carlson pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the win, and Pat Liddy registered the save.

Monks, Beavers split
At Farmington, Maine Athletic Conference rivals UMaine-Farmington and St. Joseph’s split a softball twinbill, with the St. Joe’s Monks taking the first game 2-0 and the Beavers prevailing 5-1 in the second.
In the first game, Kahler Dowling tossed a two-hit shutout. Kelly Premo knocked a double for the winners, and Sue Picard had two singles and knocked in a run.
In the second game, Sam Goyette posted a two-run single to pace the Beavers.
Jessica Wenckus tossed a five-hitter for the winners. Dawn Robertson ripped two hits for the winners.

Huskies sweep UMass-Boston
At Gorham, Melissa Henderson and Kari Vance limited the Beacons to three hits in two games, and the Southern Maine offense supported them with 26 runs as the Huskies swept a twinbill, 8-0 in the first game and 18-2 in the second.
In the first game, Henderson fired a one-hitter and struck out seven to earn the win.
Tina West led the charge with a pair of triples and three singles, driving in four runs and scoring four.
In the second game, the Huskies continued their offensive attack, sending 19 batters to the plate in the first and building a 13-0 lead.
Amy Ouellette collected a double and two singles and knocked in five runs. Bri Libby drove in four runs.

At Biddeford, Lily Doherty scored on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh to give Endicott College a 4-3 victory and a doubleheader sweep of the University of New England.
