Taste of Maine

Bangor Wine & Cheese Co. has changed the date for its monthly wine tasting to Thursday, April 25. This month’s tasting will focus on new releases from Bartlett Winery in Gouldsboro and the Winterport Winery. For information, call 942-3338.

Appetite for adventure

If the idea of letting your kids loose in the kitchen sounds adventurous, check out the Canned Food Alliance’s “Adventures in the Kitchen Kid’s Cookbook.” The sturdy, flip-card book has a Powerpuff Girls-like superhero on the front and 25 kid-friendly recipes contributed by such celebrities as Deborah Norville, Dakota Fanning of “I Am Sam” fame and Arjay Smith of Nickelodeon’s “Journey of Allen Strange,” among others. For a copy of the cookbook, visit www.mealtime.org and make a donation to Share Our Strength’s Children’s Hour, or send a donation of any amount by mail to: Share Our Strength, P.O. Box 991, Pittsburgh, PA 15230. Be sure to include your name and address.

Gettin’ twiggy with it

For those of you who think “rustic elegance” is an oxymoron, the folks at Eziba may prove you wrong. Eziba’s spring catalog, full of stylish, beautiful, handcrafted items from around the world, features a five-piece place setting with slender, silver-plated twig designs as the handles. Designed by artisan Michael Aram, the set is simple and unusual. Each five-piece setting costs $92 and is available at www.eziba.com, or call (888) 404-5108 for a catalog.
