Bangor YMCA has 3 new directors

BANGOR – The Bangor YMCA has announced three new directors: Sheri Peterson-LaCrosse, director of the Sports and Fitness Center; Sean Haggerty, fitness director; and CarrieAnn Anderson-Paquette, director of marketing and development. These three employees fill key positions in the daily management and promotion of the Bangor YMCA.

Peterson-LaCrosse has been promoted to the position of Sports and Fitness Center director. She has more than 11 years’ experience in fitness, including nearly five years working with the Bangor YMCA cardiac rehabilitation and adaptive fitness programs.

Her certifications include Aerobics Fitness Association of America professional aerobics instructor, as well as American Council on Exercise and YMCA personal trainer.

She has worked with wellness programs, cardiovascular response to exercise, injury rehabilitation, senior training and lower back pain management.

Peterson-LaCrosse said her first goals for the Sports & Fitness Center were to improve the efficiency of current programs, increase training and expand offerings. She and her husband, Aaron LaCrosse, and sons Brody, 9, and Tanner, 5, live in Hermon.

Haggerty, fitness director, holds a bachelor of science degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences from Colby Sawyer College. He also is an American College of Sports Medicine health and fitness instructor and is certified to teach spinning.

Previously, Haggerty was assistant program manager for a fitness center in Ridgefield, Conn., for four years. Originally from Auburn, he is glad to be back in Maine and is excited about this new opportunity.

As a participant and volunteer, he has been part of the YMCA family since he was a child, and said he was enjoying his new role as fitness director with the Bangor YMCA. His immediate plans include development of the Bangor YMCA’s fitness programs and strategies, and the implementation of incentive programs.

Anderson-Paquette is director of marketing and development at the Bangor YMCA.

Anderson-Paquette holds a bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. She has more than 10 years’ experience in marketing and graphic design, and for the last six years has been a freelance graphic designer and marketing consultant in Massachusetts and Alaska.

Her marketing skills will be applied to promoting the Bangor YMCA and its programs, and seeking new funding opportunities. She lives in Old Town with her husband, Greg, and their daughter, Epke, 2.

Officials at the YMCA said the organization intended to continue building “strong kids, strong families and strong communities.” For more information, contact CarrieAnn Anderson-Paquette at 941-2815 or e-mail canderson@bangorymca.org.
