BOSTON – Boston University pitchers allowed just five hits in a Wednesday doubleheader against the University of Maine as the Terriers won the opener 2-1 and the nightcap 2-0. In the first game, Robyn Horrick allowed two hits and struck out nine in the win.

BOSTON – Boston University pitchers allowed just five hits in a Wednesday doubleheader against the University of Maine as the Terriers won the opener 2-1 and the nightcap 2-0.

In the first game, Robyn Horrick allowed two hits and struck out nine in the win. Aryn Rangel had an RBI for the Terriers, who scored a run in both the second and third innings. Maine’s Jennifer Merchant pitched a four-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks. Leigh Ann Hlywak and Jess Brady each singled.

In the second game, Tiffany Finateri gave up three hits and fanned four. The Terriers’ runs came on a two-run Rangel homer in the bottom of the sixth. Aliesha Rautenberg, Hlywak and Katherine Churchill each singled for Maine. Candace Jaegge scattered six hits in the loss.

At Waterville Tuesday, Amy Lisavich pitched a one-hit shutout, striking out four and walking only one to lead Colby to the win.

Carrie Morin hit a two run double and a single for the White Mules while Wendy Bonner had two RBI doubles and Marcy Wagner added two singles.

Lindsay Duplisea pitched all five innings for Husson.

Women’s lacrosse

Colby 14, Bowdoin 8

At Waterville, Kate Wheeler scored four goals while Lauren Gremelspacher had three and an assist to lift the White Mules.

Marcia Ingraham netted three goals for 7-3 Colby while Ally King scored two goals and handed out three assists. Amanda Epstein contributed with a goal while Anna Schierberl-Scherr made nine saves on 18 shots.

Shoshana Kuriloff led Bowdoin with two goals and an assist while Libby Bourke and Kristi Perine each had a goal and an assist. Sam Hall helped out with two goals while Julia McCombs faced 15 shots and stopped eight for the 7-3 Polar Bears.

Leitao named DePaul coach

CHICAGO – Dave Leitao, the former men’s basketball coach at Northestern, has been hired as the new head coach at DePaul.
