Fowler, Hartley power Caribou baseball, softball teams in sweep

CARIBOU – Adam Fowler drove in three runs on two singles and a double as the Caribou baseball team earned a 9-5 victory over Hermon Wednesday in high school action.

Bryce McCrossin hit two singles for an RBI while Ryan Cousins had two singles and a double. Jerry Shanahan struck out 11 for Caribou.

Ron Lune had two RBIs on three singles for Hermon while Phil Cayford helped out with an RBI double.

Softball

Caribou 17, Hermon 5

At Caribou, Jessica Cyr and Melissa Brissette each hit a double and a single for three RBIs and scored two runs to help carry Caribou to victory.

Salena Ouellette had a two run single for the Vikings while Jessica Hartley added an RBI single.

Kelly Schaap led Hermon with two doubles and a single for one RBI while Erin Lucey had an RBI on two singles and a double.

At Mount Desert Island, Nicki Boutin’s single in the top of the sixth inning scored Jen Freilino and provided the winning run for the Eagles. The game was called in the seventh inning due to rain.

Freilino had reached on an error and got to third base on two passed balls. Laurie Allen pitched a four-hitter with four strikeouts for GSA of Blue Hill. Nikki Keniston tripled and Elise Bishop had a two-run single. Sarah Clapp hit an RBI single.

Alisha Boisvert and Jaime Daughtery had an RBI single apiece for the Trojans. Boisvert scattered five hits and struck out two in the loss.
