BANGOR – Penobscot Christian School fourth-grader Erin Bousfield has been chosen as the grades four and five winner of the secretary of state’s annual Maine History Poster Contest. A panel of judges that included Secretary of State Dan Gwadosky selected the youngster’s poster from 1,244 entries.
Justin Bousfield, Erin’s seventh-grade brother, was chosen as the grades six to eight winner of the Maine Constitution Essay Contest. His essay was chosen from 161 entries.
Three Penobscot Christian School seventh-graders, Robert Seccareccia, Chris DesRoches and Daniel Sterns, received honorable mention.
Erin and Justin, the children of Doug and Kathi Bousfield of Levant, each received a framed winner’s certificate and a $100 U.S. Savings Bond.
The fourth- and seventh-grade classes and their teachers, Marcie Dean and Cathy Gordon, enjoyed a trip to Augusta as the guests of the secretary of state. They toured the capital, visited the Maine State Museum and viewed the original Maine Constitution.
