BANGOR – The University College of Bangor, a campus of the University of Maine at Augusta, will mark Earth Day, Monday, April 22, beginning with a campus clean-up beginning at 9 a.m. There will be informational booths on “greening” the community, and tables organizations at UCB.
A free lunch is planned for participants beginning at 11 a.m. in the College Center. Volunteers are needed. For information, contact the Multicultural Center, 262-7814.
Students are encouraged to participate. Activities include:
10 a.m. Free Swap Shop, recycled items in good condition.
10:30 a.m. Dedication of bench at the moose sculpture.
11a.m.-2 p.m. Barbecue.
3 p.m. Tree dedication behind Eastport Hall.
9 a.m.-4 p.m. All day open microphone, band, master of ceremonies, drama readings, poetry.
Involved in planning are students Jocelyn Reed, Lisa Oullette, Deb Francis; Student Government Association members Casey Miller, Jenn Dodge; staffers Marcia Mower, Diana Bartlett, Fred Oullette, Tracy Gran, Warren Newton; faculty members: Eileen Foley, Jim La Bossiere. Participating groups include the Multicultural Center, Women’s Resource Center, Diversity Committee, Dean’s Office, and student government.
