In the men’s semifinals, top-seeded Al Joy downed fifth-seeded Tim Matero 1,339 to 1269 and No. 3 seed Chip Carson got by second-seeded Jim Singleton 1,264 to 1,246. Joy and Carson will duel for the state title Saturday at 1 p.m.
In women’s action, No. 4 seed Mona Lemar knocked off top seed Kelly Ames in the semis 1,246 to 1,197. In the other match, No. 3 seed Judy Bowden beat second-seeded Karen Matero 1,255 to 1,199. The championship match will start at noon Saturday.
