Carnes hit lifts Tigers past Devils

CORINTH – Sarah Carnes’ RBI double in the sixth inning provided the winning run as the Dexter Tigers nipped the Red Devils 7-6 in high school softball action.

Cindy Koscielny powered Dexter with a 5-for-5 effort, including a triple and a double and one RBI. Ashley Foster hit three singles, while Karen Nelson, Kristy Veazie, and Brittany Veazie each singled twice.

Central tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the seventh when Jessica Kaelin hit a two-run double. Nicole Labbe added three singles and Shawna Bell hit two.

At Bucksport, Kelly White provided the pitching and the hitting for Bucksport as she threw a one-hitter, struck out 10 hitters, and walked none in addition to getting two doubles, a single, and four RBIs.

Leah Page doubled and singled for the Golden Bucks.

Jen Freilino’s two-out single in the second was George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill’s only hit.

At Millinocket, Jordan Legassey nailed a solo home run and a single to help carry Stearns past Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Holly Franck hit a double and a triple for the Minutemen while Becca Saucier chipped in with two singles.

At Old Town, Meghan King led the Indians with two doubles and a single for two RBIs.

Megan Wandal had an RBI on two singles while Renee Thibodeau added an RBI double. Emelie Richard contributed two singles.

Evon Hudspeth, Kelley Badger, and Sarah Lozito had a single apiece for Hampden.

At East Sullivan, Annie Woodsum struck out 17, walked three, and scattered five hits to lead Narraguagus of Harrington.

Woodsum also starred offensively with two triples, a single and five RBIs. Brook Courchaine had a double, single and one RBI.

Dani Crowley hit an RBI single and Sandra Klausmeyer added a double for the Tigers.

At Jonesport, Gabby Eastman doubled twice and drove in two runs to help the Patriots roll.

Annie Babineau hit two singles and a double for Bangor Christian. Heather Niles singled twice and Kendil Snow added a double.

Danielle Alley paced the Royalettes with two singles and an RBI. Ashley Fenton and Naomi Chandler each singled twice.

At Sherman Station, Tianna Stanley’s two-run single keyed a six-run seventh-inning rally that broke open a one-run game.

Lynn Farrington went the distance for the Wolverines of East Millinocket, allowing four hits while striking our four and walking one. Beth Chasse had a run-scoring single.

Jayme Green doubled and singled and drove in two runs for Katahdin.

Krystal Roberts hit a home run, a double and a single for Ellsworth behind winner Mallory Patten.

At Lincoln, righty Kasse Brown spun a three-hitter, striking out four and walking three, and Kristi McKinnon’s RBI single keyed a five-run third-inning rally that supplied the Lynx with a six-run cushion.

McKinnon and Laci Whitney had two singles each and Chelsey Nicastro had a run-scoring double.

Lindsay Ouellette, Jean Hamlin and Ashleigh McMahon had singles for Penquis of Milo.

At Belfast, Morgan Crandall pitched a two-hitter, striking out 13 and walking one, to lead the Lions to victory.

Crandall allowed back-to-back singles to Megan Osier and Bean Flagg in the fifth, then retired the last 13 batters she faced. Sam Ellis paced Belfast with three singles.

Melissa Gray and Crandall hit RBI doubles, while Kate Ross and Lauren Overlock stroked run-scoring singles.

At Deer Isle, Taralee Webster pitched a four-hitter, striking out 15 and walking four, as the Vikings beat the Mariners.

Lindsey Seekins and Lura Carroll collected three singles apiece for Searsport. Sheila Wilbur provided a two-run triple.

Jennifer Hagerthy singled twice for Deer Isle-Stonington.

Jessie Keuster hit an RBI triple for Lee while Katie Harris contributed with a double and a single.

Caterina Riitano hit a two-run homer for Piscataquis while Stephanie Wentworth added two singles for the Pirates.

At Fort Fairfield, Terri Lynch racked up five RBIs on a single and a three-run triple in the fourth inning to power the Tigers to the win.

Fort Fairfield’s Maranda Butler hit two triples and drove in two runs. Ashlee Bubar struck out four and gave up two hits in four innings of work. The Tigers took advantage of 13 walks issued by the Pioneer pitchers.

Michelle Bourgoin and Shannon Burbee each singled for Wisdom of St. Agatha.
