Pierce, Lenentine lift Houlton past PI

HOULTON – Ben Pierce and Jeff Lenentine keyed a two-run Houlton rally in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday to lift the Shiretowners to a 5-4 baseball victory over Presque Isle.

Houlton trailed 4-3 with the bases loaded when sophomore Pierce tied it on a single. Freshman Lenentine’s sacrifice fly plated the winning run.

Mike Lenentine, Jeff’s brother, hit three singles and drove in a run. Sophomore Ryan Schools scattered three hits, struck out five and walked four.

R.J. Gagnon hit a double and a single for the Wildcats.

At Limestone, Corey Bourgoin legged out an eighth-inning triple and scored when the throw eluded the cutoff man, giving the Warriors the margin of victory.

Bourgoin hit another triple for Fort Kent, while Nick Thibodeau stroked an RBI double to back winner Jesse Jalbert, who pitched a three-hitter and struck out 11.

Derek Patten rapped a two-run single for Limestone/Maine School of Science & Mathematics and combined with Steve Harwick on a three-hitter. Hardwick and Abe Williams singled for the Eagles.

At Fort Fairfield, Shea Armstrong’s two-run double in the sixth inning highlighted a five-run burst that put the game away for the Tigers.

Aaron Kenneson struck out 19, walked two, and gave up only one earned run for Fort Fairfield. Phil Rochford posted two singles and two RBIs.

Andrew Gervais and Brad Thibeault each hit two singles for Wisdom of St. Agatha.

At Jonesport, Daren Kelley scattered five hits and struck out eight for the Royals, who took advantage of 12 walks to earn the win.

Jonesport-Beals’ Alvin Beal singled and had three RBIs. Jared Alley added two RBIs and a single.

Tyler Wilson hit an RBI single for the Patriots and Matt Conley chipped in with two singles.

At Hodgdon, Corey Edkins and Matt McCluskey had run-scoring singles in the decisive five-run eighth inning, which included two walks, two errors and a hit batsman.

Corey Shields went the distance, scattering seven hits while striking out seven and walking one.

Hodgdon’s Matt Day fanned 15 and allowed only four hits and two runs over six innings.

Jared Grant had a two-run homer in the top of the sixth and a single for the winners while McCluskey had a pair of base singles.

Chris Blanchette had a game-tying two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth and Day had two singles.

At East Sullivan, two-run singles by Jason Guest and Dustin Young highlighted a momentous first inning for the Tigers.

Young finished with a double, two singles and three RBIs, and Trevor Renwick added a two-run single.

Mike Beal slammed a three-run homer in the fifth and also had a single for the Knights of Harrington.

At Stacyville, run-scoring singles by Pat Jamo, Aaron Waite and Jared DeSantis sparked a four-run rally in the sixth inning that erased a 6-3 deficit.

DeSantis had a double to go with his single; Jamo had two singles and two RBIs; Mike Albert singled twice and Chad McLaughlin had a two-run double for Schenck of East Millinocket.

Travis Robinson tripled and singled with one RBI for Katahdin of Sherman Station. Chris McNally (1 RBI) doubled and singled and Lance Cunningham tripled.

At East Machias, Steve Colbeth hit a two-run home run and an RBI single to lead the Raiders to victory over the Dragons.

Barret Craven doubled twice and James Ramsdell hit two singles to back winner Mike Marzoll, who scattered six hits and struck out six. Ryan Maker hit a solo homer.

Darren Ripley and Chad Pike each stroked two singles for Woodland.

At Machias, Ben Maloney pounded a two-run home run in the top of the eighth to help give Shead of Eastport the win.

Wesley Ellington had a single for two RBIs while Gerald Holmes added a double and a single.

Will Hasselman had a double and a single for two RBIs for Machias while Joe Richards had three RBIs on two doubles and two singles. Jarod Day contributed a double and a single with an RBI.

At Pittsfield, three pitchers combined on a four-hitter as the Raiders of Sabattus prevailed.

Pat Duchette doubled and singled for Oak Hill, Ben Bernbe hit an RBI single and Josh Tucci doubled.

Phil Hendricks rapped an RBI single and Steve Kennedy doubled for Maine Central Institute.

At Lincoln, the Lynx pounded out 11 hits and starting pitcher Brad Greenlaw gave up one hit as Mattanawcook topped Penquis.

Fred Pete hit two doubles and had an RBI for the Lynx. Andrew Kites and Steven Whitney each singled twice and drove in two runs.

Mike Grindle singled for the Patriots of Milo.

At Jeremy Ham scattered seven hits and fanned 14, including the final two outs of the seventh inning, as the Pandas held off the Pirates of Guilford.

Nate Dow’s sacrifice fly in the third inning provided the game-winning run for Lee. Kent Doane hit an RBI double and Rob Noonan had a two-run single, part of a four-run Panda first inning.

Ben Smith hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh for Piscataquis. Bryan White doubled and Kyle Jennings had two singles.
