WATERVILLE – Thomas College posted five consecutive hits with two outs to spark a six-run second inning and Shawn Lenihan pitched a four-hit, one-run game to carry the Terriers to a 6-1 college baseball win over the University of Maine-Farmington on Tuesday.

Scott Sibley, Scott Brawn, and Buzz Simpson each had a double for the Terriers.

James Writer and Kris Garrow led the Beavers with a double each.

At Standish, freshman Greg Kimball scattered five hits over seven innings while allowing just one earned run to give the Monks the victory.

Jesse LaCasse, Lucas Hannigan and Jim Becvar each recorded RBI singles for the Monks.

Rob Maguire, John O’Niel and Owen Miehe each singled twice for the Bobcats of Lewiston.

At Waterville, Greg Stacy and Brian Marshall each cranked two-run home runs to power the Huskies past the White Mules.

Jon Lord paced Colby with a solo homer and RBI single while Eric Roy added a solo homer and Vincent Domestico an RBI double.

Softball

Bowdoin takes two from Bates

At Lewiston, Bowdoin swept Bates in a doubleheader, winning the first game 6-3 and the second game 8-2 after it was called for darkness in the sixth.

In the first game, Kristie Miller pounded out two two-run homers to lead Bowdoin to the win.

Carla Flaherty had an RBI triple and a double for Bates.

In the second game, Kristi Royer had a two-run single for the Polar Bears while and Miller added three singles and two RBIs.

Sarah Levin contributed with an RBI double for the Bobcats.

Southern Maine splits twinbill

At Gorham, Southern Maine clinched a berth in the Little East Conference Tournament by splitting a doubleheader with Plymouth State.

Plymouth State snapped USM’s 12-game winning streak by winning the first game 4-1, but the Huskies shut out the Panthers 7-0 in the second game.

Adriene Harvey slammed a two-run double in the sixth to give Plymouth State the lead in the first game when USM scored one unearned run.

Sunshine Anders and Jess Becher paced USM in the second game with two-run singles. Kristen Tong and Ang Cote each added RBI singles and Jodie Eldridge earned the win with 5? innings of relief.
