Owls’ Bouchard no-hits Van Buren

MADAWASKA – Ashley Bouchard fired a five-inning no-hitter, striking out a pair and walking three as Madawaska posted a 19-0 high school softball win over Van Buren on Thursday.

Meghan Marshall socked two triples and drove in five runs for Madawaska. Kay Gerard had a double, a pair of singles and two RBIs. Kristine Cyr ripped a double and two singles, and Sarah Dufor knocked a pair of RBI singles.

Presque Isle 10, Caribou 3

At Presque Isle, Jessie Miller rapped three singles to pace the Wildcats to victory.

Lauren Wildeman rapped a pair of singles for Presque Isle.

Jessica Cyr, Jessica Hartley and Amy Espling all had one single for Caribou’s three hits.

At Ashland, Pam Bennett launched a two-run double to propel the Hornets to victory.

Pam Spooner added a two-run single for Ashland. Cora Campbell knocked a single and scored three runs.

Morgan Anderson belted a solo homer for the Cougars of Sherman Station. Krystle McMoran had a triple and a single.

At Dexter, Jessie Keuster cracked a two-run triple in the top of the seventh to give the Pandas a win.

Ashley Foster hit three singles and drove in a run for the Tigers.

Old Town 5, Nokomis 1

At Newport, Sarah Metivier spun a four-hitter, striking out nine and walking three, to help Old Town past the Warriors.

Jessica Paul drove in two runs with a triple and a single for the Indians while Metivier doubled, singled and drove in a run. Renee Thibodeau and Meghan King added a double and a single apiece.

Michelle Murray rapped two singles and drove in the lone run for Nokomis.

Bucksport 23, Orono 0

At Bucksport, Tara Tweedie had a solid day, spinning a no-hitter, striking out six and walking just two. Meanwhile, at the plate, she rapped two singles, a double, and drove in four runs as the Golden Bucks rolled.

Leah Page jolted a two-run homer for Bucksport. Alice Andrews had a trio of singles, Kelly White ripped a single and a triple, and Jessie Taylor knocked a triple.

Hampden 6, MDI 4

At Mount Desert, Cheryl Morris hit an RBI single and the Broncos took advantage of eight Trojan errors to earn the win.

Jillian Yamartino doubled and singled for Hampden and Katie Lindemann added a double. Ashlea Ireland fanned seven and scattered six hits.

Bracey Barker, who struck out five in three innings of relief, led MDI with two singles and two RBIs. Becca Goff chipped in with two singles and an RBI.

At Madawaska, Alex Daigle smacked an RBI double in the fourth to lead the Owls to victory.

Marc Garcia had two singles and knocked in a run for Madawaska. Ted McHenry laced two singles.

Tyler Hews rapped a single and scored two runs for the Crusaders.

At Ashland, Mark Martin jolted a two-run homer to spark the Cougars of Sherman Station.

Lance Cunningham launched a triple, a single, and knocked in three runs for Katahdin. Travis Robinson and Justin Roy each had a pair of singles, and Justin Roy cracked a double.

Matt Carney sparked the Hornets with a triple and a single. Eric Ham knocked a single.

At Dexter, the Tigers rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh and clawed past the Pandas.

Eric Day doubled to start the rally. He eventually scored on a wild pitch. After Ross Morrison, who went 3-for-3 with three singles and two RBIs, walked, Josh Bishop singled. Ross’ brother Kyle laced a two-run single to tie it up. Mike Mountain, who pinch-ran for Morrison, stole second base, and scored on a passed ball.

Nate Dow sparked Lee with an RBI double, and Blair Emery added two singles.

Chris Rand knocked two doubles, a single, and drove in a run for Old Town. Brian Tewey whacked a pair of doubles and knocked three runs. Ryan Brown ripped a triple, a single, and knocked in a run.

Justin Veazie and Ben Davis each collected an RBI single for the Warriors. Brandon Gee and Justin Nichols rapped a single each.

At Bucksport, Adam Sheehan got the Golden Bucks off and running with a first-inning solo homer as Bucksport rolled past Orono.

Abram Allard knocked a triple, a single, and drove in three runs for the Golden Bucks. Kyle Mercer rapped a double and a single.

Mike Merritt led off the game by jolting a solo homer for the Red Riots. Brandon Terrill added an RBI single.
