Pease puts Indians on top Old Town registers sweep; Johnson blanks Penquis

PRESQUE ISLE – Andy Pease nailed a two-run double in the top of the eighth inning to lead the Old Town High baseball team to an 8-6 victory over Presque Isle Saturday in the second game of a doubleheader. The Indians took the first game 17-12.

In the second game, Dan Emerson contributed two RBI singles for Old Town while Josh Dykstra had two singles.

Chris Parsons hit three singles for an RBI while Aaron Keirstead added two RBI singles for the Wildcats. Matt Gale helped out with two singles and an RBI.

In the first game, Roger Cole led the Indians with a three-run homer while Chris Rand sent home three with a double and a single.

Kevin Emerson had an RBI and two singles while Shawn Tidwell chipped in with an RBI double.

Shane Clark hit two doubles and a single for two RBIs while R.J. Gagnon added three RBI singles. Adam Swanson had two RBIs on three singles for Presque Isle.

Caribou, Foxcroft split

At Caribou, the Caribou Vikings avoided the sweep with a 10-run sixth inning in game two.

In game one, Foxcroft Academy turned things around in the fifth when Seth Cabarro had a two-run single to put the Ponies on top 9-5. They added two more in the sixth. Cabarro finished the day with three singles and a home run. Brandon Croan had a double with two RBIs and Asron Sutton also had a double.

Andrew Bouchard tried to keep the Vikings alive with his two hits including two RBIs. Travis Beaulieu belted a two-run home run.

In game two, Caribou was down 5-3 in the sixth, but the Vikings began the inning with four consecutive hits and Justin Selfridge sealed the win with a three-run homer. Travis Snell had three singles.

Josh Withee provided some offense for the Ponies with a pair of singles with an RBI. Cabarro also had an RBI double.

At Milo, Ian Johnson spun a six-inning one-hitter, striking out 11 and walking just two, to pace the Minutemen of Millinocket.

Matt Barnett rapped three singles and drove in three runs for Stearns while Anthony Arsenault added two singles and an RBI.

Mike Grindle had an infield single in the fourth inning for Penquis.

At East Sullivan, Nick Reynolds pounded out a home run, a double and a triple for five RBIs to help fuel the Raiders past Sumner.

Steven Colbeth hit a home run, a double and a single for three RBIs while Whitney Stevens had three RBIs on a triple and two singles for Narraguagus.

Ricky Sprague led Sumner with two singles and an RBI.

Mattanawcook sweeps Howlers

At Bangor, Mattanawcook Academy used a strong defense to hold back Penobscot Valley and win both games of a doubleheader 15-3 and 14-0.

In the first game, Fred Pete had two RBIs on a single and a triple while Nathan Cousineau hit two RBI doubles for Mattanawcook. Steven Whitney helped out with a two-run triple.

Brody Artes had two singles and two RBIs for Penobscot Valley and John Blaisdell doubled.

In the second game, Tyler Libbey pitched a five-inning no-hitter for the Lynx, striking out eight.

Cousineau led the offense with a double and a single for an RBI.

At Harrington, Gabe Checker and Adam Tenan each hit a double and single to help lead Narraguagus to the win.

Corey Worcester had two singles for the Knights while Adam Tenan added a triple.

Joe Richards and Matt Cobb hit two singles apiece for Machias while Jared Day chipped in with a double.
